The Cincinnati Major is this coming weekend at Mid America Ballyard.  The festivities start on Friday at 4:30 PM.  I do not know what the livestream situation will be with the lack of internet in the past at this park which is situated at the bottom of a mountain will be.  In the past USSSALive cameras really didn't work at Mid America.  We will give it a try though.  If it won't work then I may be able to put up my old camera on the main field but that would be it.  25 Conference teams (down 5 from last year) this weekend so some more big points for teams desperate to get into the top 16.  Should be some great softball played.  A number of teams dropped out of this event at the last minute.  With rain in the forecast it looks like another late night Saturday in Cincinnati with the winner's bracket final scheduled for 9:30 PM.  Ouch.

Anonymous Posters Weekly Commentary!

Twenty-five Nationwide Conference USSSA teams will slug it out along with 9 non-conference in the 16th annual Cincinnati Men's Major this weekend.  Smash It Sports comes in just one week off its first win at the Smoky Mountain Classic.  Resmond Specialty Tank is looking to prove it's still the "big dog" in Conference USSSA after a disappointing 3rd place finish in Marysville, TN.  Will it be a clash of giants in the finals this weekend, or can Precision Easton continue to show it's a team that will not back down from anybody?  Who will win the Cincy Major?  Let's get to the picks and find out.

The top half of the bracket looks to have some great games on the road to the finals.  Red's Astros could battle with VCH Worth in round two, and that's a potential shoot out.  VCH comes to Cincy looking to re-establish the early mojo that had them looking like an "A" team, and Red's has shown the ability to score at will as of late.  I like Red's in this game, but it could be a great game.  The winner should be facing Precision Easton at 3:30.  Precision finished 2nd at The Smoky, and I don't see them being stopped this early in the tournament.  The team is just on a roll right now.  Precision gets past Red's to get to the winner's semi-final.  On the road to Resmondo the Compound Athletic vs. TG Brand game could be a dandy.  TG is coming off its best finish of 2015, and Compound is still working to gel with its new additions.  TG took town Compound 24-11 in Indiana, and I think the results could be similar here.  However, I look for this to be a much closer game.  Compound has too much talent to roll over.  TG wins in a very close game.  Resmondo will take down whichever teams gets through, but as far as the points race is concerned this is a big game.  Resmondo vs. Precision at 8pm may be the game of the weekend.  Resmondo doesn't lose often, but when they do it seems to really get them focused the next time out.  I can't see how a very motivated Resmondo loses this game.  Resmondo wins the top half, but I hope the fans get a tight game.

The lower half of the bracket doesn't seem to have the same drama as the upper.  The Semper vs Deluxe Bakery could be a fun one for a Friday afternoon game.  Pure Romance vs Fence Brokers in round two should be a good game, but I think Pure Romance just has too big an advantage playing at home this weekend.  Pure Romance gets to Smash It, but it would take a mammoth upset to get to the winner's semi-final for PRI.  Smash It will get there without breaking much of a sweat.  It seems that Albicocco is on a collision course for Backman/Shoppe.  This is a rematch of a run-rule game a week ago.  I don't see this one being much different.  Backman should get through to Smash It in the lower half final.  Smash It will get past Backman and continue its tear through Conference USSSA in 2015.

The winner's bracket final should feature the two big Major teams on the circuit, Resmondo and Smash It Sports.  Last week I wrote that it would come down to the coin flip.  I'm not so sure this week the coin flip will matter.  Smash It is on a tear right now.  I know Resmondo will come out firing all weekend, but I'll take Smash it in this game.  Smash It just may be the favorite the rest of 2015.  Brett Helmer and Billy Messina have the guys completely locked in right now, and the addition of Ryan Parfitt has made the best defense in the country even better.  Smash It wins this weekend, and may start to solidify itself as the favorite for the 2015 Men's Major World Series.

Final Picks:
1. Smash It Sports
2. Resmondo
3. Precision
4. Backman/Shoppe

Last week:
Prediction:                     Actual:
1.  Resmondo                1.  Smash It Sports
2.  Smash It                   2.  Precision
3.  Precision                  3.  Resmondo
4.  Backman/Shoppe      4.  Backman/Shoppe

Resmondo has won this tournament 4 years in a row.  Oldscout pollers are leaning toward Smash It Sports to win.

I'd say its a dead even bet for either.

The two fields in the back are 280-290 feet on the fences so homerun management is key.  The two main fields are 300 feet all the way around.  It is 422 feet to the top of the hill on the main field out behind the homerun fence just for reference.
