The weekend started HOT and Sunny with 16 teams making up the Major bracket alongside the E NIT and Women's Major NIT. In the first round Chalk held except for MAJ beating Magz Premier in a great first round battle 18-17 in a game that could have gone either way. Top seeds Classic Glass and OC Swats both won by run rule.
In the second round Scores were lower as the heat picked up for the 1:30 pm game and the fences are all 325-330. SDI CA GROWN upset tournament favorite Classic Glass 13-12 and Peak held on to score 4 in the bottom of the 7th to defeat Salsa 14-13. MAJ beat its second straight Conference team by beating AZM 14-8.
In the final four Peak beat OC Swats 23-22 in a game that could have easily gone either way, Swats used new pitcher Ryan McClanahan along with Jay Hill to mix it up but Peak outlasted and moved to the winner finals. In the bottom half of the bracket MAJ's run ended in a 25-17 loss to a SDI team that had timely hits and played great defense all day.
Saturday evening Peak beat SDI 22-15 behind great hitting from Kevin Watkins, Joey Gordon and got some big swings and leadership from Dan Norquist. New roster add Beau Polvorosa held down CF on the big fields all weekend and used his speed to stretch singles into doubles.
OC SWATS started to run through the loser's bracket behind the bats of Eli Aguilar, Mike Brambrilla, and Dave Nowak by beating Classic Glass 22-6 and then Tunie Sports/ Top Choice 36-21. Chente Granados and the rest of the infield made the plays that mattered and OC Swats advanced to Sunday.
On Sunday OC Swats came out to win the event and SDI CA GROWN was out matched 36-1 before OC SWATS double dipped Peak 46-42 in a 2 hour slug fest then 27-10 in the "IF" game.
All bats were in buckets all weekend and tested again on Sunday and all games used the CUSSSA ZN ball.
