The USSSA 'A' World Champions began the season by winning the Houston "Space City" Classic over fellow 'A' power Team Albicocco going 7-0 in the tournament. Pitchers Brendt Newbill and Faron Miller were co-MVP's and middle infielders Steve Whaley and Chris Hansen were co-Defensive MVP's. They followed that up with an inexplicable 0-4 performance at the Hall of Fame Classic? They had solid showings in Columbus, Ohio, Maryland, the Smoky Mountain Classic, and the Last Chance in Michigan but really put it altogether by winning 3 straight games at the USSSA 'A' Worlds on Sunday to win it.
Line Drive Sportz went through many player personnel changes throughout the season but the most important was picking up outfielder/infielder Jason Branch and third baseman Joey Formosa to solidify the top of the lineup. Center fielder Ryan Parfitt and left fielder Cory Large were 1st Team All Conference. Parfitt was also 'A' World MVP while pitcher Brendt Newbill and Faron Miller were 'A' World Defensive co-MVP's. OF/IF Sal Formosa, SS Chris Hansen, MI Steve Whaley, and 'A' manager of the year Fred Budnarowski all made second team All Conference.
Line Drive Sportz opens their Major World Series with a high noon Thursday showdown with Taylormade. Line Drive is the heavy favorite although Taylormade won't roll over for them. If they win Line Drive would get Resmondo on Thursday night, a team they have had a few run ins with at the Smoky and Michigan. Line Drive won't lack for motivation in that game. The power is supplied by the meat of the order with Branch, Parfitt, Formosa, and Keith Anderson. They also have slugger Cory Boothe from the right side and newcomer David Miller from the left. The defense is led by Ryan Parfitt in center who has a non-stop motor and has made spectacular catches at the Major in the past. They also have an infield led by veteran Joel Ramos at second base and the hard nosed Steve Whaley at middle infield and a utility man Sal Formosa that is known for extra base hits on stadium fields and can play any position. Pitcher Brendt Newbill has extensive Major experience with GTL in the past and has taken over most of the pitching duties, but backup Faron Miller is more than capable.
Outlook: Line Drive should get past Taylormade and should make things interesting against Resmondo for at least a few innings on Thursday night. But they will drop into the losers bracket as they are just 1-10 vs the Major division this season and they will fight to try to make a late Saturday night or early Sunday morning exit.

Kenny really surprised you are not coming to the Dudley. I must have done something wrong in the last three years. Very disappointing.
Warren, Dudley is down in Conference teams and upper teams the last few years and way up in price as far as travel. Simply doesnt make sense to go unless many more teams get there.
Super pumped for this season with that roster!!!
