2014 ASA Super and Long Haul Bombers Finals preview!

Admission is FREE so come on out and pack the park!

Friday, September 26th is the ASA Super National Championship which will be held at the Chickasaw Bricktown Stadium in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma!  The tournament is double elmination and has just 3 teams, #1 seed Long Haul/H. Auto/Easton, Rip City/DeMarini, and Sonnys.  The lack of teams is because in order to qualify for the ASA Super National a team had to play at least 3 qualifying tournaments and there is $50,000 of prize money that goes to the top 3 teams!  $25,000 to the winner, $15,000 to 2nd, $10,000 to 3rd.  So with prize money on the line and a minimum number of qualifying tournaments needed to play, ASA was unable to add any type of filler teams or other teams to the bracket.  Long Haul/H. Auto of course is the defending ASA Super and ASA 'A' champs from 2013 and they also won Super Qualifiers in Oklahoma and at the Corky's earlier in the year.  Sonny's is the 2012 ASA 'A' Champ and 2013 ASA Super runner up.  And Rip City is a DeMarini team with some young up and coming players that have something to prove to the softball world.  The tournament as you see by the bracket below begins at 1:00 PM Friday with livestreaming of the first two games.  Then the action moves to cable tv and CBS Sports Network to be tape delayed and shown in the future.

Game Air Date Time (ET) on CBS Sports Network
Semi-finals October 5th 1 p.m.
Finals October 12th 1 p.m.
*Semi-finals October 18th 12 p.m.
*Finals 4 p.m.
*indicates ENCORE airing*

TIMES on the Bracket are CENTRAL!

Long Haul is obviously the heavy favorite this weekend, although Sonny's and Rip City are more than capable of pulling an upset, but can they pull two upsets?  The gaps on this baseball field are the biggest in softball so the scores could be low depending on the wind.  After the games the Long Haul Bombers are going to have their finals.  Scott Kirby, Kevin Filby, Chris Larsen, Brian Wegman, and Dale Brungardt earned a spot in the finals and will be hitting for personal and team titles.
