2013 Chat Session results: Winter Worlds, Rulli, LH bombers, Westshore and more!

Note about the chat room.  The little counter that shows how many people are in there is a count of people that have clicked into the chat room itself.  There are many other people "lurking" that read and never post.  Last night there were 451 unique visitors to that page in the 2 hours that it was open.

Chat Room from Thursday, February 8th:

SoftballCenter.com has bats to sell:
 – 7 Resmondo Connells – 5 are 26 ounce and 2 are 27 ounce (with return)
 – Also let me know what Worth or Easton you might be interested in. (with return)
 – 1 Demarini 28 ounce (no return)
 – email dw@softballcenter.com to discuss
 – I will also have Louisville Sluggers around June or July

Update on the YOUR NAME HERE community supported team (Westshore):
 – There weren't too many supports that showed up to chat.
 – The poll to see if the community would support the Westshore team has resulted in 71 alleged supporters totalling $14,045
dollars and we know of another $3,000 of other supporters that have talked to me via email or phone.  So that is $17,045 in just 4 days.  The problem is, when I asked those that chose to support on the poll to email me at dw@softballcenter.com, only  10 so far have responded.  Which obviously leaves the entire idea in a bit of a quandry.
 – The poll is here: http://members3.boardhost.com/TheOldScout/msg/1360031830.html
 – A player we will leave anonymous would bring 10k to play with this team as C/EH
 – Whit is working on a golf event to raise money
 – DW emailed Doug Wood to see if he'd be interested in stepping in and helping to fund this team
 – This poster asked – what : about selling westshore jerseys or hats on the site?
    – I apologize, I did not see this post or respond to it.  Merchandising is always a possibility. You do get a tshirt for
tier #5 ($75) or higher and a game jersey for the tier #7 ($200) or higher.
 – A "scholarship" idea was given of using pledged money to give to 2 'C' teams that step up and play conference
 – DWSBC: I kindof made it an all or nothing proposition but we'll see.
 – If all of Westshores options fall through, Whit and the rest of the players will enter the free agent market.
 – Talked about Whits pinch hit of Zipperererer last year as a clutch managerial decision.
 – Whit is still talking to potential sponsors and has asked the players to give him a few more days.
 – whit contemplating a career in the booth: "hey if anyone hears and funding does not come through maybe ill share the booth
with u dw"
 – Discussion about how if Westshore can't stay together, those players will be taking other players spots on other teams.
 – DWSBC: Westshore is a gift wrapped top 12 team for some sponsor out there that wants to jump in.
 – whit: joe , we are actually meeting this weekend up at the window world to have the same discussion if everybody is
willing to flip their own bill.

USSSA Winter Worlds this Saturday, February 9th

     Rectors Boys aka Resmondo
     Dirty Demarini
Petes Boys aka some Laser Vision guys     Adiktiv/Dirty aka Baughford/Shoppe guys and Jason Branch
Team TPS aka Westshore Pizza guys (I think they won this last year?)
 – Four game flight tournament for the 5 team open division starts at 9:30 AM Saturday at Fortune Road park in Kissimmee.

DWSBC: HR Derby Friday (tonight) at winter worlds is a Worth Power Tour event

Dennis Rulli came on the chat to clear the air:
Rulli9: Rulli is present fire away….
Rulli9: In 24 years of playing at the top level I have never left a team after committing. These are personal reasons and
what was best for me and my family without getting into detail.
DW@SBC: No legal holdups leaving Shoppe?
 Rulli9: Nothing legal about it…..
Rulli9: From what i'm told Middle Infield (for Resmondo)
Rulli9: Larry and shoppe knew mid December of the situation and had nothing to do with the Team they are a great bunch of
guys…
Rulli9: Just wanted to jump on here to support DW for all he does for the Game …Hope I answered all your questions …See
you on the Field…Rulli

SoftballCenter.com Rotissiere league

  – Looking for 8 more testers for league rules.  Email: dw@softballcenter.com if you are interested in testing the rules.
 – Was thinking participants pick 1 player from each of the top 11 teams while adhering to one player at each position.
 – Having everyone get 1 player from each of 11 teams makes it so everyone has the potential of playing the same amount of
games.
  – Regular season would be Conference events from April to the Last Chance Michigan tournament.  Playoffs would be the Major
World Series.
 – Looking for a "title" sponsor to award the league and world series a bat and 2nd place batting gloves.  Sponsors banner
will be on the name of the league and all of the rotissiere league and stat pages.

2013 Long Haul Bombers:
DWSBC: LHBomber tour going to go with 3 man teams this year.
Go to Softball360.com for more info and schedules.
 No Worth or Combat team.
Kimster: LHB Tour Team: Reebok: Dustin Roberts, Jason Baxter, Chris Greinert
Kimster: LHB Tour Team Miken: Denny Crine, Kevin Filby and Ed Vega
Kimster: LHB Tour Team Easton: Brett Helmer, Brian Wegman and Scott Kirby
Kimster: LHB Tour Team DeMarini: Chris Larsen, Donovan Pokraka, Adam Rockoff

Mario Granados is playing on Chaney's if there is a team.
Note: Chaney told me there is no team last week?  Hopefully he has changed his mind?

Whit felt Scobee should sell his liver to science.

There was speculation on what the stacked Laservision lineup would look like.
– WT52: B, helmer, wegs, Kirby, flip, kk, Sammy, geno, Moyer, Durick, Rainwater
– There was a consensus that Laservision should be pre-season #1.  Tough call.

RM4: Ressy will need Hall to make the push with them.

Pitcher Perry Hensley would be part of the mysterious Vivid team out of Texas that is rumored to be playing Conference

WSBC: tmack with scene

Fans were wondering if Jeff Wallace is just a manager of Combat or if he is going to hit or pinch hit?

SoftballCenter.com will be releasing the Line Drive, The Scene, and the rest of the rosters soon.

DWSBC: Brett Melton added to 4 The Fallens roster today

DWSBC: Mark Holstein and Steve Whaley are with Line Drive Sportz/Miken

DWSBC: Precision was making decision about conference last Friday, I forgot to ask what the answer was.

BMac: ASP merged with a few Texas Miken guys… got a nice little team. Won a few big tourneys…

Chad Loudon called beating Resmondo in Houston in 2008 a "Highlight of my life!!"  🙂

ASA Major will be played on a baseball field in Minnesota and they have invited 4 top teams including Shoppe.  Assuming Resmondo, Laservision, and Combat are the other 3.

Discussion about Shoppe having way too much power.
 – if you think about it, Shoppe is giving up 4 homers per game during the season so they can play 'A' worlds
 – also if someone gets hurt, they cannot pickup a major rated player, again hurting themselves
 – So if they play 60 games before 'A' worlds that is 240 homers they are giving up for one weekend at the 'A's
 – McCollum, Robo, Powers, Cocco, Haglund, Cowart, Chente, among others are very good free swingers…let them swing it!
 – ES01: Kessler will work into lineup by years end.
 – Hosscat is getting toned up and should provide more power to Shoppe off the bench.
 – Hosscat interview coming soon.
 – Hosscat replaced Rulli

DW will not be in KC – wife is graduating with masters degree that Saturday!!!

Debate over whether or not Rick Baker or Sid Stephany will play CF for Combat.
Rumor that Dal Beggs quit Combat and Johnny McCraw may retire?  No one could comment.

Umschied and Clark are risking the "Rhines" syndrome. Sit for a top team and the career suddenly nose dives.

whit: i think the scene and taylormade are going to be sleepers this year.

Class 'B' Chatter:
 – Joe-OKC: 2 team race in B
 – DWSBC: 'B' is more open but Buzini and Reds have to be at top
 – ES01: HR limits help Reds at B level
 – whit: kg reds is b

DWSBC: Haven't heard if Kevin Rye is coming back or not.

New potential conference team S&S Pools has decided not to play Conference.
