The "Music City" Major will be held in Gallatin, Tennessee at the Triple Creek Park. There is 34 teams entered, with 30 of them from the Nationwide Conference USSSA. I believe this is the third largest tournament in the Nationwide Conference's 8 year history as far as the number of league teams entered. There are 4 'C' non-conference teams entered as well. All 4 Major teams, all 8 'A' teams, 14 'B' teams, and 8 'C' teams are entered overall.

Looking at the bracket, the two "play in" games and the 16 first round games are all on Friday night. Also Resmondo and Laservision if they win their first game they play a second game on Friday night. So everyone plays on Friday night starting at 5:30 PM Central time.

This tournament which has always had a solid showing as far as the number of quality teams has really grown into a monster. The round of 32 games are quality games with some great matchups.

How about two hot hitting teams at 5:30 on F10 – Albicocco coming off their Maryland championship vs Team Adiktiv who has been a pleasant surprise in 2013.

At 5:30 on F9 you have Pure Romance vs Sonny's. A re-match of the PRI 39-37 win at the Hall of Fame Classic.

At 5:30 back on F7 a 'B' vs 'B' matchup P&P 333 vs Baugh Ford should be a good one.

At 5:30 a big matchup between Head Hunters and 4 The Fallen. Both teams really needing a win here to get moving in the right direction.

At 6:45 on F12 you have Red's Astros who is off to a solid start taking on the red hot ASPNation.com who finished 1st in Houston and 4th in Euless.

At 6:45 on F9 you have Team Combat taking on Precision/Hangrite. Precision has beaten Combat twice this season. To be honest they probably shouldn't have been bracketed together again but you have to play the team in front of you. There aren't many easy games in this tournament in the winner's or loser's bracket.

At 6:45 on F10 you have Taylormade who finished 2nd in Maryland taking on Xtreme who hasn't made a run this year and is set to explode.

At 6:45 B&B Sears vs FBI, another great 'B' matchup.

The rest of the matchups in that round are more 70/30 type matchups with heavy favorites but that just leads to the "round of 16" and each round just ratchets up the tension. You could argue that this set of teams is as good or better than what the Smoky will get this year.

This tournament produces so many Nationwide Conference points that every game is important as the winner will receive a few more points than the loser and points that can never be gained again.

Remember field #9 and #11 are the baseball fields using the stadium ball.

The other 4 fields used are smaller and play small and will use the regular conference ball.

My final picks:

1) Resmondo/Worth – Starters are healthy, they are playing with a chip on their shoulder and a target on their back. And they have the secret weapon on the baseball fields…Howie Krause. It will be hard to beat them twice but I think they will lose a game this weekend.

2) Shoppe/TYJA – in the south, in the heat, where they play their best, their defense can spark their offense.

3) Demarini/Dirty – This team could roll. Pitcher Jones will have to carry the load. Hearing they may have picked up another pitcher. Jonas has been hurt.

4th) Nordkap/Suncoast – Pitching and defense could be important Saturday afternoon.

Tied for 5th) Laservision/Desert Falls – "built for the stadiums" so I could get dirt in my eye on this pick, still not healthy or in sync. Pitching comes and goes. A Resmondo vs Laservision show down at 9:00 PM Saturday night is fine with me as long as Laservisions feelin it.

Tied for 5th) Red's Astros – They play well on the big fields, don't give a second thought to who they are playing, and matchup up well with the top 'A' and 'B' teams.

My 'A' team pick to click outside of the top 5 is Sonny's.

I think all of the 'B' teams have an equal shot of making it two rounds in the winner's bracket, its just who can pull off the big upset? Impossible to guess.

The winner's bracket games at 9:15 AM, 10:30 AM, and noon on Saturday will produce a lot of upsets as the teams that adjust to the weather and wind conditions the best will prevail. Then from 1:30 until 7:30 PM on Saturday the loser's bracket will be a battle of attrition.

With the big fields Resmondo and Laservision usually overpower teams in this tournament and the bracket is definitely set up for them to do it again with the semi-finals and finals being later on Saturday night. If they are going to be beat, it has to be during the day Saturday or in the final 4 on Sunday. Regardless of who faces Resmondo on Saturday night, they are going to have to weather multiple double figure run innings. Don't give up when that happens.

USSSALive will have the 4 main fields streaming. Remember if you are an umpire on one of those fields announcing the score into the camera in just a normal voice we can hear you and it goes a long way for the die hard viewers at home and family and friends that are tuning in. Thank you for your help. Even if you are a fan or a player standing near the backstop you could give a score to the camera and help out the viewers.

The softballcenter.com chat room will be up and I will arrive at the tournament before the first game. Remember the two back fields #7 and #8 are a good walk from the main quad and there will be no score updates from those fields. If you play on those back fields and you could give a quick final score post in the chat room when your game is over, that would be helpful. It is 2013, this is the interactive information age.

A lot of people are questioning Resmondo's bats being tested. I will take some video for you on Friday and Sunday of Resmondos bats and other teams bats and you can judge for yourself.  Resmondo did make the best offseason roster moves. They are making sound lineup and game management decisions. And yes they use intimidation, they feed off of each other offensively, they bat around the order at least once a game, and they always come up with the game winning plays. You know the ones where an infielder uses his body to block a hard grounder and recovers to make the play, or a stab on a line drive, or they get their foot work right on double plays and make accurate throws even on the baseball fields. They do the big things better than the other teams, and right now they are doing the little things better than the other teams. Cudos to them, tip your cap.

I also want to say that a lot has been talked about this week with regards to fair treatment between teams. Laservision and Resmondo got favorable treatment with regards to unsportsmanlike conduct last weekend in Euless, Texas. All we want is equal treatment and equal punishments when it comes to unsportsmanlike conduct for all teams. It is as simple as that. We know the umpires can't toss every fbomb, every bat toss, every argument. But it has to be equal treatment whether you are a Major team or a 'B' team. This is not the MLB or NBA. We have great players in the league, the best in the game, but until these great players are putting paid fans in the stands they need to be treated equally. The 300 people watching on the live feed and the 100 people at the fields don't care if Super Major player Joe Shmo gets tossed in the 7th inning of a tie game in the winner's bracket championship. We might discuss it on the old scout next week because we discuss everything on theoldscout, but we all get up Monday morning and go to our jobs. Tossing the star player in a key situation doesn't cost anyone money. There is noone betting on these games. It doesn't make fans in the streets overturn and burn cars. It doesn't even reach more than maybe 3,000 people at most. And more than likely the guy on the bench replacing the ejected player is a Super Major player himself.

The youtube video from last week has 2,000 views (thats not much) and more than likely a lot of people watched it a couple of times. My video called "Cheese tries the hidden ball trick" has like 200,000 views in comparison.

Also please refrain from throwing the bat so that it hits the fence. I have seen 3 bats go through the backstop like a dart and come out into the fan area. It is hard to believe that can happen but if it spins just right and goes handle first it can go through.  If there happens to be a little kid sitting there, wow.

Enjoy your weekend, play hard, and give the umpires some slack, they are the best in the game!

They had the best umpires until Donny JR. ran off J-Red because a call he made against him. What a shame
