AFTER THE POOL PLAY ALL TEAMS WILL BE PLACED INTO AN ELIMINATION BRACKET ACCORDING TO THEIR RECORD!
WEATHER & TIME WILL DETERMINE SINGLE OR DOUBLE ELIM…..
Overall this looks like a solid A/B level pre-season tournament. Games will be played on the all turf infields at the Berliner park in Columbus, Ohio. Each team plays a two game flight starting at 3 PM eastern time. The single or double elimination bracket will start at 7:30 PM and finish on Sunday.
The HR Derby at 7 PM on Friday and games on the main field will be broadcast on SoftballCenter.com starting at 3 PM on Saturday. I don't know whether we will be able to move the camera around to catch any of the other fields. We will have to play it by ear.
The rosters are listed below and feature Reds Astros out of Indiana and the Canadian team Tings Orioles who has Border Battle players like Dave Boldt and an up and coming player Ron Nadalin. The tournament also features Creative Stucco who has an all star team of top Conference players including Kyle Moyer, Kevin Filby, Chris Larsen, and GSL 'B' MVP Brandon Dillon.
On paper Creative Stucco should have the best shot at winning this tournament if they can go 2-0 in their pool play and they decide to play single elimination. If they lose their opener to Red's in pool play and/or the tournament goes to double elimination then I think it will take a regular season rostered team to win the tournament like Reds, P&P, or Tings/Orioles. We also have to remember how well Street Kids and Tailgaters played here in the GSL 'B' back in October and it looks like Pure Romance has beefed up their lineup some this year. I'll take Reds Astros to win. All Star teams like Stucco sometimes fall flat as they are not really playing for anything. Although the 4 fields used for the open bracket are baseball fields and Stuccos power should be to their advantage. At the very least most of these games should be good ones.
