The 6th Annual Carolina Shootout takes place this Saturday and Sunday in Rock Hill, South Carolina at the Cherry Park softball complex. I wish I could make this one, but I have a family event this weekend. This looks like a nice little tournament with #2 Demarini/Dirty/3n2/Atwldesigns looking for their 3rd Conference tournament title of the season. #5 Shoppe / Team TPS / Elite playing without Future Stars member and lead off hitter Lee Powers is looking to break through and win their first tournament of the season. #7 Team 454/Emerald/Worth who has won two tournaments this year by double dipping Major teams looks to improve their 2-6 record vs 'A' teams. And #14 Taylormade/TM Sports/Mizuno looks to turn their season around with a tournament win. 454 will probably be without infielder Kevin Bazat who is also playing for the USA Futures Team this week. Your dark horses would be Down2EarthSports and B&B Sears who have made their mark this year. Westshore Pizza was bumped to the 'B' division and picked up former Suncoast center fielder James Curtis and longtime conference veteran David Garcia. And of course Magic has to have some confidence coming off their tournament win in Connecticut and the fact they have won like 17 of their last 18 games. There are some great matchups early in this one considering there are only 16 teams and 11 of them are Conference teams. Almost a mini-'A' World.

Lets take a look at the bracket. Bracket link:
In the top of the bracket there are 3 good first round matchups. I'll take Headhunters over Adiktiv who has made some roster moves. Demarini/Dirty should handle a good Scotts Lawn team. Westshore and Primetime should be a great game and I have no idea who to pick. I'll take Primetime in a coin toss. The rest of the way I'll take Demarini/Dirty over Headhunters and 454 to win the top half.
In the bottom lets go with D2E over Taylormade 10-9 in the heat, Shoppe over B&B Sears and Shoppe over D2E.
