The Cincinnati Major continues the Nationwide Conference USSSA season which is quickly coming to the end for 2012.  Just Cincinnati, Maryland, and the "Last Chance" tournament in Detroit, Michigan remain on the schedule before Worlds begin!

This year's Cincy tournament features 36 teams total, 7 of the top 10 teams in the nation, and 18 Conference teams overall including 3 of the Majors (Resmondo, Laservision, and Nordkap/Desert Falls).  The local Cincinnati teams will be out in force as well as teams like EAP, 3rd Street Financial, and Sportsco go for the ever present Friday night upset!

2012 Computer Rankings

It looks like the winners bracket will be played in its entirety at Mid America Ballyard and a few of the loser's bracket games are over at another local park RUM (Rumpke Park maybe?).  There are some teams that are really hungry for points like Reds Astros and Sonnys, as well as a whole slew of the top 'A' teams jockeying for that top 4 seed at the 'A' Worlds.

The main field at MAB seems to get a little bit better every year as far as bounces and hops on ground balls, but let's face it, this is Ohio, and you better have infielders willing to "sell out" or it will be a short weekend.

The two fields in the back are 280-290 feet on the fences so homerun management is key.  The two main fields are 300 feet all the way around.  It is 422 feet to the top of the hill on the main field out behind the homerun fence just for reference when watching the broadcast.

If my son's baseball team makes it to the championship game of his league tournament I will not make it to Cincinnati until 4:30 PM on Saturday.  In which case the broadcast won't start until 5 PM.

Otherwise I hope to have a broadcast up for the following games:
(obviously if there is an upset the team names won't be correct)
9:30  AM Saturday – P&P 333 vs Shoppe
11:00 AM Saturday – Resmondo game vs the winner of Reds and Columbus Pipe
12:30 PM Saturday – Resmondo vs Linedrive/Primetime
2:00  PM Saturday – Nordkap vs TYJA/Reebok
From 3:30 PM til 8:00 PM will be loser bracket games
8:00  PM Saturday – Semi-Finals on field #1
9:30  PM Saturday – Winner's bracket championship game
8:00  AM Sunday – Losers semi-final
9:30  AM Sunday – Losers bracket championship
11:00 AM Sunday – Championship game
12:30 PM Sunday – 'IF' game if necessary

As always the broadcasts run on donations.  Paypal to dw@softballcenter.com or email for an address to send a check to.  At the Smoky I received a new record for one weekend.  16 donations!  Usually it is 1 or 2.  Thank you very much for the support!  Donations allow me to pay for the bandwidth over the Verizon 4G, various Livestream.com services, and to keep a fund of money to upgrade equipment like the new laptop and cameras which give the feed a higher quality for your viewing pleasure.

With enough donations I will be able to try and broadcast multiple fields at the 'A' and 'B' Worlds and can attempt to do those two games on the back fields at the Major World Series.

Let's take a look at the bracket
In the top quarter of the bracket I like TYJA/Reebok over a struggling Baughford team that is due for a breakout tournament.  Both teams, and most conference teams in this tournament have to get past the pesky Friday night game against the local 'C' teams of course.  Friday nights on short fields when the ball starts flying are open season for 'C' teams to try for the shocking upset every year.  And it usually happens at least once in Cincinnati.  Let's go with Nordkap/Desert Falls over PRI and TYJA to make the final 4.

Second quarter – I like Blitz in the major upset over R&M and Laservision if Blitz has everyone.  If R&M is in this game, I like R&M over Laservsision as well.

Third quarter – Shoppe has to beat their 'B' nemesis P&P 333 who is 2-0 against them.  Shoppe does so with their new outfield replacement for the injured Robert Blackburn…Stevie Allen who was somehow wrestled away from Demarini/Dirty?  Wow.  P&P needs this win bad for the points but I don't see them sweeping Shoppe for the year.  P&P also has a tough first round game against Sportsco.  Lets go with Shoppe over P&P and Team 454 over Sonny's.  This 3rd quarter of the bracket has a nice 'A' world feel to it.  I'll take Team 454 over Shoppe to go to the final 4.

Bottom quarter – The Reds Astros vs Resmondo game should be a nice re-match from Chicago.  And Linedrive gets Primetime if they both pass the Friday night 'C' test.  I'll go with Resmondo over Linedrive to make the final 4.

My final picks for Cincinnati: (maybe getting a little crazy here)
1) Nordkap/Desert Falls/Easton
2) Team 454/Emerald/Worth
3) Laservision/Annihilation/Supreme/D2E/Easton
4) Resmondo-Specialty Tank Worth
Tied for 5th) Shoppe/Team TPS/Elite
Tied for 5th) R&M Metals/Troupe/Pipac/S&R/Easton

Whoever makes the top 5 better be ready to be playing well after midnight on Saturday.
