3rd Place Team Combat/Laser Vision/D2E/Supreme
Conf 'Major' from Kent, WA   3-2 Record

Laser Vision for the first time all year looked like the team to beat after they beat Sinister, Suncoast, and GTL by a combined score of 76-12.  My brother who hadn't seen any upper level softball game in a few years thought Laser Vision was the best team in the tournament and they were playing like it.  Then the wheels came off and they dropped two straight.  Something about the chemistry on this team changed those last two games but you'd probably have to be an insider to know what happened?  Helmer, Wegman, and Stephens were putting on an offensive show up until the Resmondo game.   I don't understand why Chad Munger wasn't used at pitcher since he is the only pitcher on the team that has beaten Resmondo in 2011.

All World Team – Brett Helmer – Catcher- Team Combat

All World Team – Brain Wegman – Outfield- Team Combat

All World Team – Rusty Bumgardner – Utility- Team Combat

I almost forgot to report that Rusty Bumgardner became the World Series hits leader surpassing Todd Joerling who set the record last year and Todd Martin who had set the record in 2009.  Three straight years a new player has set the new high mark for World Series hits!

All World Team – Seth Stephens – Infield- Team Combat

"Softball Man" Billy Messina donned the cape but it never did rain enough for him to run the bases and slide into home

2nd Place Team Combat/Laser Vision/R   GTGG

Conf 'M' from Kent, WA   3-2 Record

2nd Place Team Combat/Laser Vision finally broke through with that 23-4 win over Resmondo.  That was the first time Resmondo had been held under 10 runs since April of 2009 when Long Haul beat them 20-5 at the Hall of Fame Classic. This was the first time Combat has beaten Resmondo all year long.  3rd Place went to Suncoast/Reebok who knocked off Sinister, Sonny's, Team 454 and GTL to make it to the Sunday final 4.  4th place went to GTL Cartel/Demarini who has tailed off here at the end of the season but still managed to maintain their #2 ranking in the standings and Conference points.

Team Combat/Laser Vision/D2E/Supreme and their new pitching pick up, Chad Munger, scored that big 23-4 win over Resmondo but then failed to close out Resmondo in the "If" game of the championship.  Munger is one of the only pitchers that has beaten Resmondo this year (twice with two different teams) besides Geno Buck of GTL who has done it 6 times.

The Co-Offensive MVP of the Conference for 2011 was Brett Helmer.  .823 onbase %, 106 HR and 286 RBI.  Brett was also the Batting Champion

"All Conference" selections Rick Baker, Dal Beggs, and Rusty Bumgardner celebrate

Newly aquired Combat/Laser Vision pitcher Chad Munger almost scored two wins over Resmondo

RCombat's Johnn McCraw hit this one over the 390 sign eventhough he reached for it.  Wow!

4th Place Team Combat/Laser Vision/D2E/Supreme  GTGTeamG

Conf 'M' from Kent, WA    5-2 Record

Team Combat/Laservision/D2E/Supreme was flip flopped by EWS in the third round and came all the way back to a 4 run lead in the top of the last inning before losing.  In the loser's bracket they showed some real heart in beating Pharmapar, GTL, and Famous before losing one to Resmondo in a game they were down big but came back to within 1 run.

Rick Baker didn't seem to be playing (although I didn't see many of their games).  Helmer was playing right field and made a tough catch in that EWS game to give them a chance.  Rumor has it that some 'top of the line' pitching help is on its way…
